The State of Georgia is divided into four geographic time zones observed by all of its counties:
Eastern Standard Time (EST): This time zone covers the most populous and eastern regions of the state, including Atlanta and Savannah. EST is five hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and observed from late November to mid-March.
Central Standard Time (CST): This time zone covers the remaining regions of Georgia and is six hours behind UTC. CST is observed from late March to early November.
Atlantic Standard Time (AST): This time zone covers the state's Atlantic Ocean coastline and is four hours behind UTC. AST is observed from late March to early November.
Daylight Savings Time: During Daylight Savings Time, all of Georgia operates on the Eastern Daylight Savings Time (EDT) which is four hours behind UTC. Daylight savings time is observed from mid-March to late November.
