The United States Minor Outlying Islands are a group of nine uninhabited islands and coral atolls that are federally administered by the United States. The islands do not have an official time zone, and their time is not monitored or regulated by a recognized authority. However, the islands are usually aligned to the time zones of nearby countries such as Hawaii (Hawaiian Standard Time), Guam, and Palau for organizational purposes. Additionally, the United States Naval Observatory's Astronomical Applications Department (USNO) lists the islands as having Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) minus eleven hours. This means that times in the United States Minor Outlying Islands will be eleven hours behind UTC.
